Your learning. Your choice.
SheetSprout privacy and cookie notice. Updated 19 October 2026.
SheetSprout is an independent Excel learning project. This notice describes the educational website and its optional Google Analytics 4 measurement.
Exercise answers and progress
Answers and formulas are checked in your browser. We do not send exercise answers, formula entries, search text, scores or workbook contents to Google Analytics or an application server. Correct online exercise IDs are saved locally so you can resume without an account. Progress uses this site’s browser storage and does not sync across devices.
Reset practice progress on Resources, or clear this site’s browser data. The legacy storage key cellwise-progress-v1 is retained to preserve earlier progress.
Workbook checking
Your selected workbook is read and checked locally. It is not uploaded to us, Google Analytics or an AI service. Workbook contents, file names and grading results are not included in our analytics events. Checking results are held in page memory and disappear on refresh or closing the page. Use Clear file and results to remove the selection and report.
Optional Google Analytics
If you choose Accept analytics, we load Google’s official Google tag (gtag.js) for Google Analytics 4, measurement ID G-7YGBZN759E. We use analytics to understand visits, popular pages and general engagement so we can improve the learning website. It is optional: you can read lessons, practise and check workbooks without accepting.
With consent, Google receives page addresses and titles, a shortened referring website address, cookie identifiers, visit and engagement information, and browser/device information such as language and screen size. Network requests also expose your IP address to Google. Our page events use published page addresses and titles; query strings and fragment identifiers are omitted. We do not configure user accounts, User-ID tracking, Google Signals or advertising personalization.
Google processes analytics information on its infrastructure, which may be outside your country. See Google’s Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from sites using its services. Retention within Analytics is controlled by the property settings and is separate from browser cookie lifetime.
Cookies and similar browser storage
| Storage | Purpose and duration |
|---|---|
| Practice progress (localStorage) | Correct exercise IDs for resuming learning, until you reset progress or clear site data. |
sheetsprout-analytics-consent-v1 (localStorage) | Your analytics choice and expiry, remembered for up to 180 days. It is not sent as an analytics event. With browser storage blocked, a choice lasts only on the current page. |
_ga and _ga_7YGBZN759E (first-party cookies) | Optional Google Analytics visitor/session measurement, after acceptance only. Configured for up to 180 days without automatic cookie expiry renewal; browsers may shorten storage. Rejection removes accessible Analytics cookies for this site. |
Make or change your choice
Analytics is off by default worldwide. Before you accept, we do not load Google Analytics or send it cookieless measurement pings. Scrolling, continuing to learn, or closing a browser does not count as consent. Advertising-related consent stays denied.
Use Privacy choices in the footer of any page to accept or reject. Withdrawal stops future Analytics collection and removes accessible Analytics cookies. It cannot undo information already sent while consent was granted. Changing this choice does not reset your practice progress. We ask again when the saved choice expires or is cleared. A browser Global Privacy Control signal keeps optional analytics off.
Hosting, downloads and external links
The public website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Hosting providers may process IP addresses, browser information and request logs to deliver and protect the site, under their own privacy terms. Private previews may use the preview platform’s sign-in and access controls. Analytics collection is restricted to the public SheetSprout website, not local or private previews.
Workbooks are direct file downloads. Links to Microsoft or other external sites have their own privacy practices. We do not currently run Google AdSense or other advertising scripts. Any future services will require this notice and the relevant choices to be reviewed.
